Amnesty International Ghana
Amnesty International is a non profitable organization that helps to fight for human right of individuals in the country. They are funded by individual members and others that show interest in what they do. They are independent of any political ideology, economic interest or religion. No government is beyond scrutiny. No situation is beyond hope. Few would have predicted when they started that torturers would become international outlaws. That most countries would abolish the death penalty. And seemingly untouchable dictators would be made to answer for their crimes.

Work of Amnesty International in Ghana

In Ghana, Amnesty International focuses on several key human rights issues:

  1. Campaigns Against Human Rights Violations: The organization monitors and reports on human rights abuses, advocating for justice and accountability. This includes highlighting cases of unlawful detentions, torture, and other forms of maltreatment.

  2. Death Penalty Abolition: Amnesty International has been campaigning for the abolition of the death penalty in Ghana. They work to raise awareness about the issue, engage with policymakers, and support legal reforms.

  3. Freedom of Expression: The organization defends the rights of journalists, activists, and ordinary citizens to express their views without fear of retribution. They work to ensure that laws and practices do not infringe on freedom of speech.

  4. Women's Rights: Amnesty International advocates for the rights of women and girls in Ghana, addressing issues such as gender-based violence, discrimination, and harmful cultural practices.

  5. LGBTQ+ Rights: The organization works to protect the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals in Ghana, who often face significant social stigma and legal challenges. This includes campaigning against laws that criminalize same-sex relationships and advocating for equal treatment under the law.

EDUCATION NGO'S CAMFED GHANA CAMFED  is a grassroots movement tackling poverty and inequality through female education and leadership. Focused on vulnerable girls and women in rural Africa, the organization may start in the classroom, but it doesn’t end there. CAMFED supports women in many ways. They work to provide essential materials for female students, such as books, uniforms, safe boarding facilities and even bicycles for girls to get to school more quickly. They also provide teachers with training in child protection and educate young women to be peer mentors for vulnerable young girls. CAMFED also supports young graduates with additional training and resources, allowing them to lead the change needed for the next generation.  CAMFED currently works in 38 districts of Ghana,  and since its creation in 1998, has supported over 240,000 girls in attending primary and secondary school using donor funds.
